    • Q: What is different with Digital TV?
    • A: There are a number of benefits to having digital TV:
      • It provides higher quality sound and picture than analog
      • Issues with reception like static and ghosting don’t occur
      • It has an electronic program guide (EPG). An EPG is an interactive schedule of current and upcoming programs that you can display on-screen
      • The digital signal takes up less broadcasting room, meaning there is room for more channels, including local channels
      • With digital TV and certain Panasonic equipment you can pre-record single shows or entire series
    • Q: How can I tell if I am digital ready?
    • A: An easy way to tell if you have digital free-to-air is whether you can receive ABC2, ABC3 or SBS TWO. These are standard definition channels, so if you can view them it means your TV can receive digital signal and that you have already made the switch. And don’t forget your recorder! Can you record ABC2, ABC3 or SBS2? If you can record these channels, then you are digital ready.
    • Q: What do I need to be Digital Ready?
    • A: There are a couple of options;
      1. You can buy a Digital Recorder or
      2. You can buy a new TV.
  • (385) 367-7208
    • Q: What is the Switch?
    • A: In parts of Australia, TV is broadcast in both analog and digital. The ‘switch’ refers to the analog signals being phased out (or switched off) across the country from now until the end of 2013.
    • Q: Why is Australia Switching?
    • A: Here are a few reasons why we're making the switch:

      IMPROVED VIEWING

There are a number of ways in which digital TV will improve your viewing.
      Including:
      • More free-to-air channels, plus the current ones
      • Access to an electronic program guide, so you can see program schedules on your TV
      • The Ability to watch TV in high definition quality

      KEEPING UP-TO-DATE INTERNATIONALLY

Overseas programs are increasingly being made in digital format only. Digital TV means you'll still be able to watch these shows.

      FREEING UP BROADCAST SPACE

Turning off the analog signals will free up space that can be used for other services.

      NATION-WIDE COVERAGE

The government is rolling out Viewer Access Satellite Television (VAST), a digital satellite service that will provide a full selection of free-to-air channels around Australia.

    • Q: How can I check if I have already made 'the Switch'?
    • A: An easy way to tell if you have digital free-to-air is whether you can receive ABC2, ABC3 or SBS TWO. These are standard definition channels, so if you can view them it means your TV can receive digital signal and that you have already made the switch. And don’t forget your recorder! Can you record ABC2, ABC3 or SBS2? If you can record these channels, then you are digital ready.
    • Q: Why do I have to Switch?
    • A: You will have to make the switch in order to continue to watch or record TV. Once the analog signals have been turned off in your area, you will only be able to watch or record TV via the digital signal.
    • Q: When is ‘the Switch’ happening?
    • A: The switchover is happening in and around Sydney from 3rd December 2013 and in and around Melbourne from 10th December 2013. The Remote Central and Eastern Australia area is also switching over on 10th December 2013.
    • Q: What happens if I don’t do anything?
    • A: Choosing not to do anything means you’ll lose access to free-to-air TV when the switchover is complete in your area. That means you will not be able to watch or record any TV.
  • THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT

    • Q: What equipment do I need to get digital ready?
    • A: To digitally enable your current TV you will need to have a digital recorder or set top box or if you are looking to replace your analog TV you’ll need a new Digital TV.
    • Q: So there is a way I can I keep my old analog TV?
    • A: You can, but you’ll need to buy and install a new digital recorder or set top box to continue to watch TV on it.
    • Q: Please can you tell me what Panasonic recorder models will enable digital TV on my current TV?
    • A: We have 5 models available starting from as little as $399
